Are you going to South Downs Food Festival at Stansted Park this weekend?
The line-up on Sunday is particularly interesting for those of us concerned with the future of food production and sustainable diets. The ‘Future of Food’ theme will look at how we feed ourselves while protecting our environment.
Philosopher Julian Baggini will discuss the ideas in his forthcoming book 'How the World Eats'. Alex Briggs, manager of Weald to Waves, will share his experience creating a network of wildlife corridors while also producing food, and Peter Gladwin will discuss sustainable vineyards and farm to fork. Beth Mander, from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, will examine the 'Big Food Redesign Challenge' during two panel discussions - on 'Fixing a Broken Food System' and 'South Downs Food and Nature Recovery' - featuring some of the speakers above plus chef, restauranteur and writer Thomasina Miers.
It promises to be a thought-provoking day, with plenty of delicious food and drinks on offer, plus demos, children's activities and live music - only £12 for an adult ticket (£6 for children).
