Plans for a Timpson pod to be built next to Tesco in The Causeway have been withdrawn following opposition from the public.
The shared footpath and cycleway which runs around the back of Tesco and links The Petersfield School and Petersfield Infant School with the rest of the town was under threat.
It would have reduced the width of the path from 8m to 3m, creating a pinch point that would have been unsafe for cyclists and pedestrians.
Petersfield Climate Action Network’s (PeCAN) Active Travel group carried out two counts to find out how well used it was and found hundreds of people used it at peak times.
Now, the application has been withdrawn.
