Water Event Coordinator

We're planning an event in November focused on water resilience in Petersfield, and this is your chance to get involved right from the beginning!

You could help shape the event, liaise with stallholders and speakers, coordinate volunteers and help with the behind-the-scenes organisation.

We're still in the early planning stages, so there's plenty of opportunity to make the role your own.

What's involved? 

• Liaising with stallholders, speakers and the PeCAN team
• Helping with administration for the event
• Coordinating volunteers for the event
• Coordination during the event itself

What's the time commitment?

• Around 1–2 hours a week, increasing as the event gets closer

What you'll need: 

Organisation, enthusiasm and an interest in the project.

Tree Celebration Event Coordinator 

We're planning a tree celebration for February 2027 and are looking for someone to help bring it all together. 

As we're right at the early planning stage, this is a great opportunity to take an idea and run with it from start to finish. 

What's involved? 

• Liaising with stallholders, speakers and the PeCAN team
• Helping with administration for the event
• Coordinating volunteers for the event
• Coordination during the event itself

What's the time commitment?

• Flexible, depending on how you'd like to get involved

Repair Café Coordinators

Our monthly Repair Café brings people who can fix things together with others who don't want to throw their broken items away – and we're looking for a small team of coordinators to help keep it running smoothly. 

You'll help with communication between volunteers and partners and make sure we have plenty of repairers available each month. 

This won't be a role for one person – we'd love to build a team of 2–3 people who can share the responsibility. 

What's involved? 

• Working with local partners and PeCAN 
• Coordinating and communicating with other volunteers
• Helping with administration and data collection
• Helping to promote the repair cafes on social media
• Helping to lead the Repair Café once a month to ensure it runs smoothly
• Communicating with PeCAN on any requirements for the Repair Café

What's the time commitment?

• 2-3 hours a week, and 4-5 hours on the day of the Repair Café

Organisation, communication and an interest in making things last!

Events Organiser

PeCAN needs volunteers to help us organise public events including walks, film screenings, public talks and the Eco Fair 2024. We are currently looking for help putting on small events for local business owners (e.g. bringing in experts to talk about sustainable packaging, carbon footprinting etc).  

What's involved? 

• Working with PeCAN staff to plan and organise events, including finding venues, securing speakers and dates
• Helping to promote and run events
• Helping us come up with new event ideas

What's the time commitment?

• This could be just for one event or more regular support. For a single event, expect a few hours a week for about a month

Active Travel Project Coordinator

We're developing a new website page to help local residents understand the active travel options available to them. 

If you have experience building websites, or enjoy working with online content, this could be a great opportunity to help shape something that will be useful to people across Petersfield. 

What's involved?

• Helping us bring together content and images
• Ensuring the webpage looks good and works for users
• Using our existing Umbraco website

 What's the time commitment?

• Flexible - needs to be completed by November 2026

Some website-building and/or copywriting experience would be helpful.

Volunteer Trustee

PeCAN is looking for two or three new volunteer trustees to join our board. If you are passionate about our climate and nature, enjoy thinking strategically, and would like to help us plan and oversee projects that benefit our community, please get in touch. 

Trustees meet in person once a quarter in Petersfield, with ad hoc meetings in between, to set strategy and make sure our charity is on track. Being a trustee is a very rewarding and fun way to contribute to our community’s response to the climate and nature crises. It doesn't matter if you are an old hand at governance or a newbie who’d like to learn - if you've got the drive and commitment, we'd love to hear from you. Female and younger applicants would be especially welcome.

Marketing support

Help us spread the word and raise awareness via social media, local print and digital media, printed materials. Creating written and/or visual content. Either directly supporting our Marketing and Communications Manager or focusing on a particular project or event. 

Admin support

Help behind the scenes by distributing leaflets and fliers in and around Petersfield, or by organising spreadsheets and processing data.
