We are BATS about bats - are you?
Take this opportunity to join PeCAN and Friends of Merritts Meadow for a Bat Walk at dusk on Monday 4th August from 8pm. With the use of detectors we will be able to identify the species present.
Bats account for more than a quarter of mammal species in the UK and around 20% of all mammal species worldwide, and they play an important role in many habitats around the world. In the UK, some bats are ‘indicator species’, because changes to these bat populations can indicate changes in aspects of biodiversity. Bats might suffer when there are declines in insect populations or when habitats are destroyed or poorly managed.
Let's see what we can find in Petersfield!
Meet at the top (north end) of North Road at 8pm.
This walk is weather dependent. Please wear suitable footwear for uneven terrain and bring a torch to use when exiting the nature reserve in the near dark.
