Good news...we are hoping to launch a Petersfield Repair Café in early 2026, to join the 28 others already operating very successfully in Hampshire. Petersfield Repair Café will offer a simple, free, walk-in repair service - one Saturday morning each month. This is a practical way to divert items from the waste stream, and build skills and resilience in our community.
But we need YOUR help to make this a reality!
We not only need repairers but also facilitators who can create a welcoming environment, register visitors, and offer refreshments. We also do not expect you to have professional level skills - eager amateurs are very welcome! If you think you could help us realise this vision for a thriving Repair Café in Petersfield, or you just want to find out more about how it would work, please contact us at [email protected]. You could also come along to our next Volunteers Evening at the Folly Upstairs at 7pm on Wednesday 28th January.
The aims of a Repair Cafe are:
To reduce the amount of waste to landfill and the associated carbon emissions
To raise awareness of the benefits of repairing, reusing and recycling
To build skills and resilience in our local community
We aim to do this by offering simple repairs which are not commercially viable for local repair businesses, making such repairs available to those who don’t have the means to pay. Repair Cafes are intended to complement rather than compete with local repair services, and we will look to support, help advertise, and direct people to businesses offering these.
Keep an eye on our Events page for upcoming Repair Cafe dates.
