After a busy day it was the Petersfield and District Beekeepers Association that stood out as they picked up the Eco Fair Award for the Best Stall.
The judges at Petersfield’s first ever Eco Fair said they felt it had the best engagement with visitors across all age groups, activities to engage people, lots of information and knowledge to pass on and an important message to share.
Martin Smyth, events organiser and committee member for PDBKA said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We loved it.
“It was wonderful to win best stall and it’s all about teamwork. I couldn’t have done it without the rest of the team.”
The association was formed in 1941 and was originally known as the Steep Beekeepers Association.
Martin said the eco fair was a huge success.
“We had all ages coming to talk to us from the little ones to those who are retiring. There are many aspects to beekeeping as well.
“We are always promoting our bees and the association and trying to get people to join the association and to learn about the bees.
“Bees and pollination are part of the climate change challenge so it’s important to raise awareness.
“Over the years we have taken it upon ourselves to try and raise awareness of climate change but really we should be focused on the bees so it’s great that PeCAN is taking on that challenge.”
