It was a beautiful still morning with a chilly mist rising from the pond, which evaporated as the sun rose. Up on Music Hill, blackbirds, robins and song-thrushes began first, while it was still dark. They were later joined by wrens, wood pigeons, crows and blackcaps. About an hour after dawn, chiff-chaffs and great tits were the loudest and most frequent.
In all we heard 20 bird species singing and we were pleased to hear some less common species such as firecrest, reed warbler and marsh tit.
PeCAN would love to know if you celebrated the dawn chorus somewhere else, and what you heard? You can email us to let us know, here.
