The demand for domestic solar has never been greater. Volatility in energy prices and forward-thinking households looking to insulate themselves from further price rises, have turned to solar PV panels with government figures showing a record number of installs during March of this year.

During March 2026, there were 27,607 installations, accounting for 121 MW of capacity. This is the most installations in any calendar month since 2012.

Homes in the south of the UK benefit most from the available sunshine, with the strongest sun and longest daylight hours making installs in Hampshire an attractive option.

There are also options for smaller solar installs with plug-in solar set to be approved for release in the coming months.

Installations can be further enhanced with battery storage and an electric vehicle charge point all making use of the set-up. Excess electricity you generate above and beyond your daily requirements is can be sold back to the grid via the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) scheme as well as being available for an optional hot water heater through a solar divert system. And if you fully electrify your heating with a heat pump installation, you have a complete electric solution with the benefit of moving away from fossil fuel based energy sources.

There are funding options for solar and other retrofit work for low income households available subject to eligibility and availability, and possible funding in the future subject to government confirmation under the Warm Homes Plan.
