With support from Petersfield Town Council, Petersfield Society are asking residents’ views on Petersfield’s green spaces, including the Heath, neighbourhood play areas, and street trees. A flyer will be delivered to every household tucked inside The Directory magazine, with a QR code to access a short online survey. Residents without a computer or smartphone can be helped to complete the survey by contacting the Society here.

A grant from the Waitrose/John Lewis Partnership Community Matters Programme is helping to cover the costs of promoting the survey and all residents who take part will be in with a chance of winning a £25 John Lewis Gift Card.

Dr Andy Moffat, who convenes the Green Infrastructure Group, explained “We’re keen to understand how people use Petersfield’s parks and green spaces, what they value the most, and what improvements they’d like to see”. The survey can be completed anonymously and data will not be shared with any other agencies or commercial companies.

The Green Spaces survey will deepen the understanding of Petersfield’s natural environment gained through Petersfield Society’s i-Tree survey (published 2017) which revealed that the tree cover in the town is below the national average, and the Tree Location Survey (published 2021) which identified suitable spaces, including certain verges, for tree planting.

The survey comprises about a dozen questions, and should only take a few minutes to complete. It will be available until 17th May and you can fill it out here. Results will be published and available for public discussion in the Autumn.
