As Hampshire and the Solent face the defining challenges of our time, climate change and nature loss, Voice for Climate & Nature urges all mayoral candidates to place nature and climate at the heart of prosperity, working with communities, businesses and councils to become a place of resilience and innovation where people and nature thrive together. With our councils evolving and the 2028 Mayoral Election on the horizon, there is a real opportunity here to accelerate change.
Voice for Climate and Nature is made up of individuals, grassroots groups and organisations across Hampshire and the Solent. It was set up by climate and nature groups in the geographical area covered by the emerging Hampshire and Solent Mayoral Combined Authority, including Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and Hampshire Climate Action Network.
Their aim is to get community views for the environment, climate and nature reflected in the manifestos of Mayoral candidates. After the May 2028 election of a Mayor, they aim to ensure community views are reflected in the strategies and policies of the Mayor and Combined Strategic Authority.
